Warrior Nun spoilers follow. Warrior Nun proved to be quite the gift from the heavens when it dropped onto Netflix – but it's a good job patience is a virtue when it comes to season two. Based loosely on the manga-style comic book series by Ben Dunn featuring Warrior Nun Areala, the first season of Warrior Nun dropped onto our screens in July 2020. While season two has been promised, fans have had a hell of a wait. The story follows Ava Silva, a 19-year-old whose life changes forever when she wakes up in a morgue with an artefact embedded in her back and a surprising new set of superpowers. Soon, she is recruited to an ancient order of warrior nuns who are tasked with protecting Earth from demons. So what now? Here's everything you need to know about the latest instalment of the Buffy/Daredevil hybrid. Netflix Warrior Nun season 2 potential release date When is it back on screens?Good news, Warrior Nun fans. Season two has thankfully been given a very rough release time – and it will be back on our screens in winter 2022. So that's November or know that's a bit of a wait, but we're already sure it's going to be worth it. Simon Barry, Warrior Nun's showrunner, teased on December 4, 2021 that he had already watched all the new episodes, writing on Twitter "Having watched all of WarriorNun S2 this week, I can officially declare it a 'Holy Hand Grenade' season. Prepare yourselves for [explosions]." This content is imported from Twitter. It seems the wait is getting on everyone's nerves though, including Simon – who in March reassured fans there was something on the way, keeping fans hooked with some behind-the-scenes pics. In March 2022, he wrote "Sorry we have no update on S2 trailer or release date yet, so here’s a little BTS to keep our amazing WarriorNun fans going. More to come." We'll keep you updated as soon as we hear anything more definitive. Warrior Nun season 2 cast Who's in it?Warrior Nun just wouldn't be right without our leading lady Alba Baptista as Ava Silva, and it's confirmed that she will be back for more next season. The Portuguese actress steered the series, and with season two around the corner, it's safe to assume a lot of the other beloved faces will be making a comeback too. This will include.• Toya Turner as Sister Mary/Shotgun Mary• Thekla Reuten as Jillian Salvius• Lorena Andrea as Sister Lilith• Kristina Tonteri-Young as Sister Beatrice• Tristan Ulloa as Father Vincent• Sylvia De Fanti as Mother Superior Netflix Emilio Sakraya figured prominently in the first half of season one before JC and Ava broke up, so it's possible he might return somehow in future episodes. Expect William Miller to play a bigger part this time too in the role of Adriel, the pseudo-angel who started this whole ordeal. In the season one finale, he was outed as the villain behind everything, and it would be weird for him to be sidelined moving remember even characters who have died could also return due to flashbacks or even a holy for the show is as intense as it looks – with actress Kristina Tonteri-Young revealing that a lot of the stunts and fight work were done by the cast themselves... and it required a lot of training to get right. "We all got thrown into training literally the first day when we came from the airport," she told SyFy Wire. "Basically, a lot of us were in the stunt warehouse. [...] So we all did some group exercises on how to cover a room and how to go into a room with weapons and how to make sure it's all secure and safe." Netflix Warrior Nun season 2 plot What will the second season be about? Now that Adriel has revealed his true self to the world ie. he's not an angel, but an actual devil who's manipulated the church to his bidding, Ava and her fellow sisters will fight his army of demons and hopefully save Shotgun Mary in the to that sinful cliffhanger, fans have a lot of questions that need answering in season two, including what happened to JC, where Michael went, and how Ava will find the strength to defeat Adriel. The sisters will also have to reckon with the fact that The Order of the Cruciform Sword has been developed on the basis of an absolute lie, thanks to the betrayal of Father Vincent who has essentially been a puppet for Adriel to pull the strings of. But what about the narrative beyond season two? How much story could Warrior Nun cover?"These things tend to reveal themselves when the story starts to feel like it's building to a crescendo," Barry said via Inverse. "You do want to find a point where you can wrap. With Warrior Nun, I would give it a window because we're still so early in the process of developing it."One particularly intriguing plot thread which will be explored further in season two revolves around Beatrice's queer identity. Thankfully, Barry fully intends to delve into that further too, telling Fangirlish "Should we get the chance to keep going then we'll definitely want to double down on Beatrice's story and backstory and find out where that goes."I can't say if it'll resolve into a full-blown relationship with Ava, but I do like the idea that everyone had to come to this story with their own journey and their own battle. And I love that Beatrice is one of our strongest and fiercest combatants in this story. She presents her journey in such a beautiful and nuanced way."Barry will build on the foundations set by season one, telling Looper that he wants to explore "the appearance of Adriel [and] the relationship with Father Vincent, as the stakes have changed for Ava and the other sister warriors". He elaborated "Having the opportunity to look back at the other Warrior Nuns, I think, is a really great opportunity for the show. Telling those stories of the other Warrior Nuns through history could be amazing and also enlightening to the present." Netflix And Barry has also said that he plans to delve deeper into the character of Lilith."It's one of those imperatives that we dig down and understand what she's going through and what's happened to her," he told Uproxx. "In building Lilith as the presumptive Halo bearer and the most eager to be selected, we knew we were dealing with a trope-y character study that exists in many, many other stories, but we didn't want to use her the way other stories would have used her, which would have been to be the classic foil for Ava."By doing all we did to her, by forcing Lilith, someone we thought we knew, to change, it meant that the audience had to go through this re-examination as well. The journey that Lilith took was very much part of our plan from day one. In fact, if she ever comes across in the first three episodes as being a little bit one-note, it's because we knew we were going to flip it." Netflix And THAT season one cliffhanger needs to be addressed as soon as possible during season two. Barry agrees. "Yeah. That needs to be resolved. As a viewer myself, an avenger, I would not be satisfied with that if I didn't get a resolution and a conclusion."Chatting to Brief Take, Tonteri-Young mused about where her character could go next "It's really hard to say... We were always surprised by what happened next. As a character who's pretty stoic and she kind of takes everything in stride and is grounded and reliable, it would be really interesting to play something where she gets thrown completely off her path a little bit."She has this incredible faith and incredible belief so it would be really interesting to see what happens to her if she gets thrown off balance." Warrior Nun season 2 trailer Is there any footage yet? This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site. Yes! Netflix treated us to a first look at season two as part of their Geeked Week celebrations in June. The intense first look saw Ava recapping what's happened in her life up until this point, as a war begins to brew around her. She's also delivered the warning "No one in history has ever defeated Adriel and lived" as Ava and her team prepare to fight anyway. Undeterred, the badass responds "Well then... looks like we're going to have to make history." We are ready to see what's coming their way – though with a warning like that in the background, don't be too shocked if a couple of people don't make it out alive.
